Alternative Treatments & Supplements

Please note – I am not a medical professional and therefore I would always recommend that you conduct your own research to confirm what is right for you. I am not recommending these treatments as an alternative to conventional medical treatment.

Ruta graveolens with Calcium Phosphate and Thuja

This is something I looked into not long after I was diagnosed and treated. I took it for quite an extended period and still do occasionally when I have panic momentabout my tumour. Suffice to say that my tumour did not grow, further to taking it,and my consultant’s comments on seeing my scan results were “keep doing whatever it is you’re doing”. Can I be sure that this treatment had a direct affect? Honestly, no. I have now been advised that my tumour, thankfully, is benign, and possibly something I might have developed from childhood. For the past 7 years or so, potentially thanks to leading a more healthy lifestyle (further to a somewhat missspent youth) it has not grown at all. Could this be due to taking over a yearscourse of Ruta graveolens and Cal Phos? Possibly, but, then again, possibly not.

I found out about this treatment online and then quickly booked an appointment with a local homeopath. Please note that this treatment is not taken in the usual homeopathic way but the same dose is used ongoing. The homeopath also suggested taking Thuja. The doses recommended to me were as follows:

Ruta Graveolens (also referred to as Ruta Grav) – Ruta 6c pills – one dose of 2 pills to be taken twice a day.

Calcium Phosphate (also known as Calc Phos)

Calc Phos 3x – one dose of 2 pills to be taken three times daily.

Thuja 30

One dose of 2 pills to be taken once weekly.

In relation to taking the doses, I was given the following notes by the homeopath: ‘Take each dose on a clean mouth (i.e no food for a few minutes before and after each dose and at least 1/2 an hour away from cleaning your teeth. Toothpaste may contain anti-dotal substances. I would also advise you to minimise your use of coffee as excessive use can be anti-dotal to homeopathic remedies.’

These pills can be sourced easily online from Helios Pharmacy, which is the supplier my homeopath used and I also use when I decide I want a further supply.

Garlic

Garlic is well known for its various health benefits, particularly with regards to the immune system, and has apparently been confirmed as containing anti-cancer compounds, so it’s worth ensuring you eat a lot of it regardless of whether you have a brain tumour or not. But be warned, it can make you a bit stinky, so keep the deodorant at hand and don’t forget to brush your teeth! The health benefits far out weigh the potential pong issues however.

There are some very interesting articles recommending garlic.

Can it help treat brain tumours?

Curcumin – derived from Turmeric

There is quite a lot of discussion taking place about Curcumin, which is derived from the spice Turmeric regularly used in curry dishes, and it’s benefits for fighting cancer. I take high potency Turmeric tablets, which can be sourced easily from your local health food shop.

Flax seed Oil

Flaxseed oil contains alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an omega-3 fatty acid. Omega-3 fats are known to have a number of health benefits, including potential improvements in brain function. Alpha-linolenic acid is believed to be very beneficial for the heart and heart related disease, and also brain health and development.

Flaxseed oil is used in the Budwig Diet along with cottage cheese. Details about the Budwig Diet are further listed on this page below.

It has been the subject of a number of studies assessing as to it’s efficacy for helping with various health benefits, including Diabetes and Cancer. Flaxseed oil is used along with cottage cheese in the Budwig diet, a diet

Ginger

Ginger has been the subject of a number of studies to confirm its potential cancerfighting properties, and a recent study into it’s potency for fighting prostate cancer, carried out by the Georgia State University, came up with some very encouraging results.

Cannabis Oil

Cannabis is apparently under research as a potential treatment for brain tumours, along with other cancers. It is believed by many that the cannabinoids THC and CBDcan treat tumours, and the internet is flooded with newspaper reports of people who claim to have cured their cancer by using the oil. CBD oil can be obtained online legally. Cannabis oil with THC (the factor that gets you high) is however illegal in the UK.
